Dr. Muhammad Abdul Qadir (Professor & Director)

Dr. Abdul Qadir obtained his master and doctorate degrees from the Institute of Chemistry during the year 1987 and 1994, respectively. He joined the Institute in 1996 and presently serving as Associate Professor of Analytical Chemistry. He has published about 39 research papers in foreign and local research journals. His major research interest is in the field of environmental Analytical Chemistry, Agriculture and Pharmaceutical Chemistry.

Dr. Farah Kanwal (Professor)

Dr. Farah Kanwal obtained her Master degree in Chemistry from Punjab University in 1989. She earned her Ph.D. from Strathclyde University, Glasgow, UK in 1995. She joined Govt. College University in 2000. She joined the Institute of Chemistry in 2004 as an Assistant Professor and presently serving as Associate Professor of Physical Chemistry. She has published number of research paper in the Journals of international repute. Major areas of her research interests are polymer synthesis, polymer blending (physically & chemically), conducting polymers, polymer degradation. She is deputy student’s advisor.

Dr. Zaib Hussain (Professor)

Prof. Dr. Zaib Hussain graduated from the University of Glasgow (UK) with a B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Pure and Applied Chemistry and completed her Ph.D. research degree from Brunel University, UK in 1999. During her final year of Ph.D, she was also appointed as Post doctorate fellow by Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (UK). She was appointed as Lecturer/Buisness Development Co-ordination at Brunel University in 1999. She then became Executive Director of a major Finance Company in Canada in 2003. She Joined LCWU in Sep 2006 PUIC in April 2009 as Foreign Faculty Professor under the HEC-FFHP. She has supervised over 100 post graduate students both Nationally and Internationally and has more than 50 publications to her credit and author of 1 book. Her research interests include Transfrontier Shipment of hazardous wastes in the context of the Basel Convention, metal recycle/recovery using novel electrolytic methods and exposure to pesticides and its link to Neurological Diseases.

Dr. Muhammad Imran (Associate Professor)

Dr. Muhammad Imran acquired his MSc degree from this institute and doctorate from Germany. He has been working as assistant professor since 2011 and owns more than fifteen publications in his credit. His research area is, structural chemistry and photo-physical/bio-inorganic studies of bismuth compounds.

Dr. Sadia Atta (Associate Professor)

Dr. Sadia Ata obtained her master degree in chemistry with distinction from Punjab University in 1999. She joined the Institute as lecturer in 2001. She was awarded her M.Phil degree from UET in 2007. She earned her Ph.D from UKM, Malaysia in 2009. She has published 11 research papers in the International repute journals. She has presented participated in many international conferences. Major areas of her interest are water quality, environmental issues, Disinfection by products, haloacetic acid, trihalomethane and so on, Modeling (predictive and time series) and Metals studies in different matrices.

Dr. Ejaz Ahmad (Associate Professor)

Dr. Ejaz Ahmed did his M.Sc. in Chemistry from the Islamia University Bahawalpur and  Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from University of Karachi, Karachi, Pakistan. He was the former Manager Publications in Bentham Science Publishers Ltd. and Journal of Chemical Society of Pakistan. In Dec. 2007 he joined the Institute of Chemistry, University of the Punjab. He has published over 55 research articles in leading international journals. His current interests include isolation and structure elucidation of bioactive natural products from marine and terrestrial medicinal plants, employing bioassay-directed isolation strategies, new leads as potential medicinal agents and botanical pesticides, search for new enzyme inhibitors and antioxidants, natural product biosynthesis, biotransformation, microwave assisted synthesis and organometallic chemistry.

Dr. Ahsan Sharif (Associate Professor)

Dr. Ahsan Sharif obtained his M.Sc. degree with specialization in Organic Chemistry in 2001, from Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad. He did Ph.D. from HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry. During his Ph.D. he spent two years in Cambridge University UK, where he did the research works in the field of supramolecular Chemistry. He joined the Institute of Chemistry, University of Punjab in 2007.Ahsan Sharif Published about 12 research papers in international Journals and attended several international and national conferences / symposia both at home and abroad.

Dr. Tajamal Hussain (Associate Professor)

Tajamal Hussain did his M.Sc and M.Phil from Institute of Chemistry, University of the Punjab Lahore. Later on he went Austria for Ph.D. He did his Ph.D. from Graz University of Technology, Graz, Austria. After Ph.D, he started his carrier from Qauid-I-Azam University Islamabad in February 2010. Now he is working as regular faculty member at institute of Chemistry, University of the Punjab Lahore. His field of interest is High Pressure Kinetics & Material Chemistry. His research work is published in different international journals and presented in various international  conferences held world wide.

Dr. Adnan Mujahid (Associate Professor)

Adnan Mujahid received PhD degree in Chemistry from University of Vienna, Austria in 2010. He is currently assistant professor at Institute of Chemistry, University of the Punjab Lahore, Pakistan. His research is focused on synthesis of molecularly imprinted polymers and nanocomposites for integrating them with different transducers such as quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) and interdigital electrodes (IDEs) in developing chemical sensors of environmental, industrial and biological interest.

Dr. M. Asim Raza Basra (Associate Professor)

Dr. Muhammad Asim Raza Basra received his bachelor degree in Bachelor of Science Education from Government College of Education for Science, Township Lahore in 2002 and his Mater in Chemistry from Institute of Chemistry, university of the Punjab, Lahore in 2006. He served institute of Chemistry as student demonstrator in Applied Lab for one year (2005-2006). In 2006, he won Cultural Scholarship announced by Ministry of Education for PhD and joined department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, School of Medicine, Xi’an Jiaotong University, China in September 2006 as PhD Scholar and he completed his PhD degree in 2010 under the supervision of great scientist Prof Lu Shemin. During his PhD, he did research work on allergic asthma by using animal model and published five research articles in international journals. He joined University of Health Sciences on IPFP in 2011 and engaged in teaching and research on herbal plant. He served Genetic Diseases Research lab, Allama Iqbal Medical College, University of Health Sciences, Lhr as Assistant Professor from July 2012-August 2014 and worked on Genetic diseases including Intellectual disability (ID) and Stuttering and Specific Language Impairment (SLI). Dr Asim joined Institute of chemistry in August 2014 as Assistant Professor. Presently he is working on genetic diseases such as Specific Language Disorders, Autism, identification of active compound from herbal Plants used for Cancer, HCV, allergic diseases, Rheumatoid arthritis and obesity, fungus and bacteria, as well as Silver Nanoparticles with collaboration with UVAS, Centre of excellence in Molecular Biology, Department of pharmaceutical Chemistry, Xian Jiaotong University China, and Department of Pharmacology, University of Health Sciences, Lhr. He has participated national and international conferences and seminars.

Dr. Nayab Batool Rizvi (Associate Professor)

Dr. Nayab Batool obtained her master degree in 2003 from the Institute of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, University of the Punjab and Ph.D in 2010 from the Institute of Chemistry, University of the Punjab, Lahore. She joined the Institute of Chemistry in 2003 as Lecturer. She has published 6 research papers in the field of biochemistry. Her research interests include Clinical Biochemistry, Diagnostics and Nutritional and Food Chemistry.

Dr. Zahoor Hussain Farooqi (Associate Professor)

Zahoor Hussain Farooqi did M.Sc in Physical Chemistry from University of the Punjab Lahore. He obtained his M.Phil degree in Physical Chemistry from Qauid-I-Azam University Islamabad. He worked as research associate in CSI, The City University of NewYork, USA. He joined Institute of Chemistry, University of the Punjab Lahore as a lecturer in September 2010. His area of research is polymer colloids and smart polymer Microgels for biomedical and nano-technological applications.

Dr. Muhammad Salman (Associate Professor)

Dr. Muhammad Salman got his M.Sc. and M.Phil in Applied Chemistry from the Institute of Chemistry, University of the Punjab in 2006 and 2011, respectively. He had completed his Ph.D in December 2015. He worked as Student Demonstrator and Scientific Officer in 2006-07 in the Institute of Chemistry. He joined the Institute of Chemistry as Lecturer in November, 2007. Now he is working as Assistant Professor in the same institute since October 2014. His field of interest is Applied Chemistry especially associated with environmental issues and production of chemicals. He has published 57 research articles including a book chapter in the field of Applied Chemistry.

Dr. Maliha Uroos  (Associate Professor)

Dr. Maliha Uroos obtained her M.Sc. (Organic Chemistry) in 2003 from Institute of Chemistry, University of the Punjab. She completed her PhD in synthetic organic chemistry in 2012 from The University of Nottingham under HEC Faculty Development Program. She was awarded EPSRC post doctoral fellowship (2012-2013) at The University of Nottingham, UK. She was appointed lecturer at University of the Punjab in 2007 and currently working as an Assistant Professor at Institute of Chemistry, University of the Punjab. She has received the following awards; President Talent Forming Scholarship (2000), Roll of Honour in B.Sc (2001), PhD scholarship (2008), Leslie Crombie Prize UK for best PhD research presentation (2011), EPSRC fellowship (2012). She has several publications in leading international journals including a patent review and presented her work at various national and international conferences. Her main focus is synthetic organic chemistry and research interests include sustainable energy production, synthesis of biologically active molecules for applications in pharmaceutics and as agrochemicals via environmentally benign green chemistry protocols, ionic liquids and nanochemistry.

Dr. Misbah Sultan  (Associate Professor)

Dr. Misbah Sultan obtained her M.Sc. degree with distinction from University of Agriculture Faisalabad in 2005. She received scholarship from Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan for Ph.D studies from 2006-2012. In October 2012 she has joined Department of Polymer Engineering & Technology, University of the Punjab, Lahore. Then she moved to Institute of Chemistry on December 2014. She has published seven research articles in national & international journals. Her areas of interest are synthesis, characterization and application studies of polymers especially Polyurethanes.

Dr. Muhammad Imran Din (Associate Professor)

Muhammad Imran Din got his M.Phil degree in Physical Chemistry from the Islamia University of Bahawalpur in 2007. He joined the Institute of Chemistry in November 2009. His field of interest in Adsorption, Theoretical Chemistry, Computational Chemistry, Biofuel Cell. Currently he is working on Nano catalysis of fuel cell.

Dr. Madeeha Batool (Assistant Professor)

She obtained her M.Sc. degree from University of the Punjab, Lahore with specialization in Analytical Chemistry in 2003. She did her M.Phil. from University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, Pakistan in 2006 and Doctorate from the University of Nottingham, UK in 2011. She joined University of the Punjab, Lahore in 2006 as a Lecturer and now serving as Assistant Professor in the Institute of Chemistry. She was awarded HEC scholarship for her M.Phil studies. She was again awarded scholarship under faculty development scheme in 2007 to pursue her PhD studies entitled ?Studying Reaction intermediates using IR spectroscopy? She has attended several national and International conferences and has presented her work in many of these meetings. Her research interests include Analytical Chemistry, Advance Spectroscopic Studies and Photochemistry of Organometallic complexes and Derivation of reaction mechanisms.

Dr.  Umar Farooq (Assistant Professor)

Dr. Umar Farooq earned his M.Sc. Chemistry with distinction from The Islamia University of Bahawalpur in 2003. He won HEC Indigenous Fellowship and joined Prof. Dr. Misbahul Ain Khan?s research group at The Islamia University of Bahawalpur. His area of specialization is Analytical/Environmental Chemistry. Dr. Farooq completed his PhD in 2011 and joined the Institute of Chemistry, University of the Punjab on October 12, 2011 as Assistant Professor under IPFP program of Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. He has 5 publication is International Impact Factor Journals, including a review article. His research interests include development of environmentally friendly modified biosorbents for the treatment of polluted water layers.

Dr. Azeem Intisar  (Assistant Professor)

Dr. Azeem Intisar obtained his BS (4-year) and MS (2-year) degrees in Chemistry from the Institute of Chemistry, University of the Punjab, Lahore in 2006 and 2009 respectively. He completed his PhD in Analytical Chemistry from the School of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering, East China University of Science and Technology, Shanghai, China in June 2012. He joined the Institute of Chemistry on November 1, 2012 as Assistant Professor under IPFP program of Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan. He has published 16 research articles in renowned SCI (IF-based) journals. His research interests include Separation, Characterization and Evaluation of Medicinal Plant Extracts and their Pure Constituents for different Bioactive Properties.

Dr. Muhammad Arshad (Assistant Professor)

Dr. Muhammad Arshad (born; 01-12-1980) obtained M.Sc. with distinction from The Islamia University of Bahawalpur in 2003. After completing PhD in 2011 with Prof. Varinder Aggarwal (FRS) at University of Bristol, UK, he joined the Institute of Chemistry, University of the Punjab on 14th April 2011 as Assistant Professor under IPFP. He then moved to CIIT as Assistant Professor (01-02-2012 to 29-12- 2014). During this period he carried out a one-year Postdoc (2013/14) with Dr. Corinna Hess at Durham University, UK after winning EPSRC fellowship of UK. He recently joined back the Institute of Chemistry on 30th Dec. 2014 and working as Assistant Professor. He has won the Best Poster Award in RSC Regional Annual Meeting held in Bath University, UK in 2010. His expertise are in the field of Synthetic Organic Chemistry and research interests include the development of new methods and their applications in the total synthesis of natural products as well as discovery of novel heterocyclic derivatives of medicinal interest. He is also working on the development of redox-active ligands and their metal complexes to use as catalysts for Hydrogen Production.

Dr. Rabia Rehman (Assistant Professor)

She had joined the Institute of Chemistry as Lecturer in 2009, after obtaining her master degree in chemistry from the same institute in 2006. She has worked as student Demonstrator and Scientific Officer in this Institute for the period of 2006-7. She had worked as a lecturer in Punjab Group of Colleges, Lahore for 2-years before joining this Institute as lecturer. Now she is working as Assistant Professor since January 2016, after completing her Ph.D from same institute.  She holds 3 books and more than 80 research papers to her credit, published in journals of national and international repute. Her field of interest is inorganic chemistry, especially associated with the development of new analytical procedures regarding various environmental issues, wastewater treatment and applied aspects of various scientific methodologies.

Mr. Hafiz Muhammad Hamid Raza (Lecturer)

Mr. Hafiz Muhammad Hamid Raza obtained his M.Sc and M.Phil degrees in Chemistry with specialization in Physical chemistry from Institute of Chemistry, University of the Punjab. He obtained his MBA degree with specialization in Human Resource Management from Institute of business Administration (IBA), University of the Punjab. He joined college of Earth and Environmental Sciences, University of the Punjab in 2011 as Lecturer in chemistry. He joined Institute of Chemistry, University of the Punjab as Lecturer in April 2013. He has been awarded ‘National Youth Award’ in 2009 by Government of Pakistan. His field of interest includes Environmental issues, Water treatment and Membrane Technology.
